WHAT TIME IS IT?

You don't have to ask that question when entering our home.  There seems to be clocks all over the house. Most overnight visitors are awakened several times during the night with the sound of chimes, cuckoos, and tickings.  If you stay long enough you do get used to these sounds and sleep right through them or else you just enjoy knowing what time it is all through the night.

This old school clock once hung in a classroom at College of the Ozarks.  It is just as silent as the school rooms were after the bell rang. I hangs on the wall in our breakfast area to remind us that you are never too old to learn something new.
This little beauty adorns the mantle in the living room.  It has to be wound every week so we just let it go silent until we are entertaining.  It has a beautiful little ding to announce each hour and each half hour and of course it is Pink.  Comes in handy when guest are staying too long.  Just ask them if they noticed the clock on the mantle.
This one has always been the favorite of all the grandchildren when they were small.  The little cuckoo bird jumps out to sing his little song and the miniature dancers go round and round to a beautiful waltz.  This one goes a whole month without winding.
This little French clock runs on batteries and keeps us informed as to when to go to bed every night.  No ringing and no ticks from this one but it is pretty. It just quietly moves from one minute till the next.

Sitting on a table in the upstairs hall right outside the bedrooms you have no question about how much time you have left to stay in bed.  It chimes every hour and every half hour.
Grandfather stays on the job to let you know every hour, every half hour and every quarter hour.  He has done a good job for over fifty years and is still very handsome and stately. You can hear him at any place in the house as he has the loudest voice of all the clocks.  Love those Westminster Chimes and the Moon Dial.

These are not the only time pieces around our place but the rest are mostly on appliances and are there just because they came on them.  I don't really collect clocks but I do love to have them around and the more noise they make the better.
