JULY
Can't believe that the year is over half gone.  It seems like I have just now adjusted to writing 2019 and in less than six months will have to start using 2020.
The calendar Maud Humphrey used for the month of July is a painting of a little girl from Spain.  She appears to be a black eyed and black haired beauty  daintily holding a small fan probably indicating the hot weather of July.  Maud Humphrey used her son Humphrey Bogart for a model in many of her paintings of children.
Well, along with hot weather in July, my kitchen takes on the many scents of canning.  When you walk in the front door you realize there has been a lot of fruits and veggies put up for use in the cold winter months that lie ahead.
So far there is zucchini relish, bread and butter pickles, peach jam, and squash pickles canned for later use. Sometimes all I need for a meal is a pint of pickles and besides that these jars of the summer bounty make wonderful gifts.
But for the rest of the week the canners and equipment has to be put away as the Kline home will welcome some wonderful guest coming in from Texas to spend the weekend with us.  I am sure we will open up a few of these beautiful jars and enjoy.

Canning in the Summer is Just as Much Fun as Eating it in the Winter!!!

  1. Okay, you've inspired me. I've made some tomato juice but haven't touched the zucchini yet.
