SPRINKLE BOTTLES
Remember when we would sprinkle down dried clothing and roll them up tight and put them in a basket to be ironed? These bottles are collector items now and I am the proud owner of three of them. A lot of them were the Chinese figures, but then there were many other shapes. Two of mine are the Chinese and one is a white poodle.
My mother did not own any of these fancy sprinkle bottles but used an old Coke bottle. You could buy a sprinkle stopper that would fit right into the top of the bottle. I remember just getting a bowl full of water and dipping my fingers into it and dashing it onto the clothes. Sometimes when you did not finish the ironing you would just put the rolled up items in the refrigerator so they would not sour.
Then came the steam iron. What a marvelous invention! I still iron. For some reason it is a satisfying chore that I never minded doing. I especially love to iron items from my collection of old linens. I keep my ironing board up in the wash room and usually do the ironing as soon as the dryer is finished doing its job.
Some changes we are thankful for:
Steam Irons and Permanent Press1!
